Review - Olay Pore Minimising Cleanser + Scrub

Hi All!!  Tonight I'm doing a review on the Olay Pore Minimising Cleanser + Scrub.

I've been using this cleanser + scrub for approximately 3 months now, not every night but at least 3-4 times a week.

You may have used this product previously (Dual Action Cleanser + Pore Scrub) but Olay has just changed the names and packaging to make it more modern and appealing, and it worked for me - I was drawn to the way this product looked, sleek packaging with lots of product and the mesh of the blue, aqua and white - it was in my trolley before I really had a chance to read about it!

So this is what the cleanser looks like - I was a bit disappointed not to see more colour when you see the colours from  the packaging....it has a very slight blue tinge.....

When  the cleanser is rubbed out it foams up a touch and you still get that feel of a creamy cleanser and small microbeads from the scrub......

So the product claims to deep clean and minimise the pores after just one use......wow well that's stretching the truth a little.

I liked the fact that it was a cleanser and (light) scrub and yes it did give me a deep clean but did it remove all my make up and minimise my pores?  Sorry no.

When used on those "make up free" days it certainly did it's job, but on the days when I'm wearing a light or full face of make up you'll need to do the double cleanse.  When you do the double cleanse I use a light scrub and then another creamy cleanser or gel cleanser with no scrub base.

I use quite a few products that claim to be "pore minimising" and to tell you the truth with using so many you'd think I'd have no visible pores but I don't:(

So if you can overlook the fact that this scrub is not going to minimise your pores after "just one use" and you're after a gentle cleanser and scrub to use then go ahead and pick it up!

The Olay Pore Minimising Scrub retails at $7.99 and can be found at most supermarkets and department stores.

Please note – I purchased this product with my own money and am not paid by any company for the review.  I personally and professionally use these products and wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t.

Outfit of the Day - Bright Orange!

Hi All!!  Today I'm bringing you another Outfit of the Day....
this time featuring my hot hot hot orange blazer.....

This blazer was purchased from eBay for under $30.00, when I saw Khloe Kardashian wearing one on ellen I was thinking "I have to have it" but I so couldn't wait for it to be released in July from their own Kardashian Colletion so I went about sourcing one, and of course I found one on my favourite shopping site!

So today I teamed my orange blazer with a long sleeved plain white shirt, a flowy printed singlet, sandblasted skinnies and silver ballet flats.....

My jewellery is silver pandora bracelet and a chunky orange bangle and my hubby's plain white gold wedding band and a chunky orange ring.....

My top, jacket, jeans and shoes.....

My make up was simple so my jacket could stand out so I'm only wearing Garnier BB Cream, Garnier Anti-Dark Circles Roll-On Concealer, MAC MSFN Medium Powder, Milani Minerals Blush in Luminous, NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skintone, Rimmel Eyeshadow in Gold Rush, The Body Shop Eyebrow Kit in Brown/Brunette, Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in Noir (tightline and waterline), L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara, Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee and Napoleon Perdis Lip Gloss (no name).

Are you tempted to buy a hot orange blazer????

Benefit Top 10 Mini Set

Hi All......I've been wanting to try quite a number of products from Benefit without having to spend a fortune on buying full size products so when I came across a 10 piece set on eBay for $26.00 and it included most of the products I'd wanted to try I was clicking "Buy Now" instantly.

I was excited when the set arrived in my letterbox and I restrained myself to take some pictures before opening it all up!

Here's what the set looks like.....

So what's included??  ERASE paste, STAY DON'T STRAY, benetint, posietint, high beam, ooh la lift, "that gal", dandelion, bella bamba and the POREfessional.  All of Benefit's products have very cute packaging and names!

I've given all the products a number of test runs and am pretty happy with the results - when they run out I'll defintely be buying the full size products.....and of course you ask me which ones????  ERASE paste, benetint, posietint, high beam, the POREfessional and bella bamba!

Now for some pictures and a bit of info about each of the products....

ERASE paste....
A concentrated, creamy concealer that brightens and conceals.  This came in the medium shade and matched my skin perfectly.  It covered my under eye circles and any blemishes!

STAY DON'T STRAY.....
This is a primer for eye make up and concealer to help them stay all day...and all night.  I would say that some of my other eye primers are just as good, if not a little better.

benetint...
This is a sheer, rose-tinted lip and cheek stain.  The colour is absolutely beautiful and adds just the right amount of flush to your cheeks and lips.

posietint...
Add a pop of colour with this creamy poppy-pink lip and cheek stain.  The colour is so nice and fresh, however I do prefer to use it more as a cheek stain than lip stain.

high beam...
This is a satiny pink highlighter to use over your make up to highlight your cheek bones, brow bone and cupids bow....I can see why this is a make up artist's favourite!

ooh la lift...
This product is supposed to perk up tired eyes, and when I used it, I had only had about 3 hours sleep and didn't really think it did the job:(

"that gal"...
This is supposed to be a brightening face primer to make your make up go on smoother and even out your complexion so it looks perfect and even.  I actually found this to make my foundation look oily.  Next time I use it I'll apply it only to the "highlighting" parts of my face and use my normal primer to the other areas and see if it makes a difference.

dandelion...
A ballerina-pink brightening powder that perks up your complexion.  I thought this was a bit too "pink" to put all over my face and found it worked better as a blush (although it was quite sheer)  or a highlighter.

bella bamba
A brightening 3D watermelon pink blush laced with  shimmering gold undertones.  This blush is amazingly unique and does need a light hand for applying as it is sooooo pigmented.  Love at first swipe!

the POREfessional
A pro balm that minimizes the appearance of fine lines and pores.  It can be used as a primer or over your make up.  I use quite a number of fine line/pore reducing products so I'm not sure if this works used on its own but I liked it's consistency and how it made my skin feel soft and silky.

I purchased this from eBay but if you like what you see and read then full size products can be purchased in Australia from eBay or you can place an order through Benefit Cosmetics (www.benefitcosmetics.com) in the US.  The shipping is quite reasonable and takes less than 2 weeks to arrive.  I know I'll be buying some more products, oh and of course a few other ones too.......

I purchased this set with my own money and am not being paid for this review nor am I affliated with Benefit.  The review is my personal opinion.

Have you tried any products from Benefit?

My Make Up Collection

Sorry I've been  MIA lately, it's been a busy week!

Today I'm going to show you what is in my personal make up collection, however if I want to do a specific look I usually raid my professional collection (in any of my OOTD pictures you'll notice a three stacker make up case - that is part of my professional collection!)

I purchased this container with 3 sliding drawers from Lincraft for around $30.00.  Before using this, I had eyes, lips and face products separated into cosmetic bags, but I was always scrabbling around in the bigger bags for the product/s I wanted.  Now I just pull out the drawer and everything is right there!

I've divided the drawers into face products, eyeshadows & blushes and eyes & lips.

Below is the bottom drawer for all my face products.  Including tinted moisturisers, BB cream, foundations (note I have a number of different colours to match with the season and my skin colour), concealers, powders, bronzers and highlighters.  Also my beauty blender is stashed at the back.

The middle drawer holds all my small eye shadow palettes, singles, trios and quads, as well as any cream shadows.  Also I have my face and eye primers and my heated and normal eyelash curlers.  All of my blushes fit in this drawer as well.

The top drawer is for all my eyeliners; pencil, gel and liquid.  Mascaras - curling,  volume, fibrelash, growth and clear - one is not enough! My brow products and all my lipsticks, lip stains, glosses, lip butters and lip liners.

In two separate cups I hold all my brushes.  I purchased the Sigma Mrs Bunny line of travel brushes, which came with these two cups that clip together for travel.  The Sigma brushes are on the right and all my other brand of brushes (Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay, elf) are on the left.

How do you store your make up?  Have I inspired you to expand your collection or just make it easier to find all your products?

Pink Gradient Nails

This weekend I decided to paint my nails in varying shades of pink from light to dark, hence the name “Gradient Nails”.

The colours I chose were:

Pinky Finger – Face of Australia Champagne Kiss

Ring Finger – Rimmel Lycra PRO Oyster Pink and topped with China Glaze Carnival Lights

Middle Finger – Coral Colours in Fusion Metallix N/E

Pointer Finger – Rimmel Lycra PRO Pop Rose

Thumb – OPI Pompeii Purple

Champagne Kiss, Carnival Lights, Oyster Pink, Fusion Metallix N/E, Pop Rose and Pompeii Purple

I’ve really enjoyed having some different shades painted on each nail and it certainly puts a fun pop of colour into the winter we are having.

This is the end result:

Are you going to try out this trend – and if you do what colours will you choose?

Outfit of the Day: Monochrome Layers with a Touch of Taupe

Today's post is all about my current Outfit of the Day.

It's suddenly decided to be winter in Australia so I thought I would put together an outfit that is not only warm but using some of my favourite winter staples.....

In my Outfit of The Day I'm wearing:

  • White Camisole from Ally
  • Black Leggings from Big W
  • Taupe Cardy from SES Fashions
  • Black scarf from Cotton On
  • Taupe Riding Boots from Billabong

My accessories are black round earrings and a black beaded bracelet.
Hair is just pulled up into a high bun - with the help of volumising powder and sea salt spray for texture.
My make up is fairly neutral with just Garnier BB Cream, Face of Australia Concealer, Rimmer Stay Matte Powder, Milani Luminoso Blush, Rimmel Black eyeliner (tightline), NYX Mascara, The Body Shop Brow Powder and Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait.

What do you wear to keep warm?
